If you guessed 90%, you would be correct, according to historian Stuart Laycock in his new book All the Countries We’ve Ever Invaded. Of course, the author uses a pretty expansive definition of invasion, including the use of military force and the threat of force (official state-sponsored invasions) plus “invasions” by armed explorers and pirate attacks so long as those groups were operating with support of the British government.

Personally, I want to see the map of “official” military versus pirate invasions – that would be cool!
